„sheet music: the performance“ are loop animations and kinetic sculptures that give motion to otherwise static notation, where this movement wants to become the sounding of the graphics. These interpretations are imagined to be the objects of sound and music giving their eternal music performances, yet remaining truthful to the composer’s original intentions with the „Sheet Music“ works, to ‚convey the aura of sound and allow the viewer to imagine music‘. Es ist schon etwas erstaunlich, wie vergleichsweise widerstandslos die A-Medialität, so nenne ich in Anlehnung an die A-Tonalität diese medial ungebundene Musik-Praxis, Einzug hält in die Musik. Es war einfach fällig, so wie die Bildende Kunst a-medial, alles andere als nur Bilder malend, geworden ist, oder der Tanz, der, seit er nicht mehr Ballett sondern Tanz heißt, nicht selten gar nicht mehr tanzt. Aber ist es dann überhaupt noch Musik? Nein, ist es nicht, finde ich, wäre die ehrliche Antwort. Es ist Medienkunst, die nur, in unserem Fall, bevorzugt mit performativen und visuellen Aspekten von Musikausübung oder auch mit der Musikgeschichte arbeitet; Medienkunst mit Musik. Aber es ist im Kern Medienkunst.
