Ivan Abreu presst Musik auf Eis-Schallplatten, vornehmlich Nationalhymnen. Und irgendwann bricht das Eis. Aber wahrscheinlich wäre eine langsame Schmelze schöner gewesen.

Experimentation with Long Play records made out of ice, created using moulds; this process allows the transference of sound information onto a radically unstable material, such as ice, which registers the information from the disc’s grooves and is capable of keeping it for long periods of time. This transformation of the original sound in the vinyl record constitutes the only sound process within the art work.

In this edition for Mexico, it copies a long play titled „Música y voz de la Patria , Himno Nacional (Homeland’s music and voice, National Anthem) „which by its officiality and history, constitutes the sonorous image of the nation: military marches, flag’s theme, national anthem, etc. Sound clichés that constitute signs of the state-nation that are reactivated from within their questioning, and whose feedback is the collective catharsis of the public act that they were originally conceived for.
