Der Operare-Workshop ist zu Ende und hat mir eine Menge Informationen gebracht, zum Beispiel dass wenn man ein zeitgenössisches Musiktheater produziert auch mal einen Statiker in die Kalkulation nehmen muss (teuer!).
Morgen geht’s nach Mannheim, wo ich an der Popakademie im Rahmen der Time Warp einen Vortrag über die GEMA-Aktion halte. Und zu Hause stehen immer noch die Umzugskisten.

Ich freue mich über viele positive Zuschriften zum gerade veröffentlichten Buch Loadbang – Programming Electronic Music in Pure Data. Pd-Chef Miller Puckette hat seinen Segen gegeben, und es gibt bereits Interessenten für Übersetzungen ins Portugiesische und Französische.
Das Modell: umsonst online als html und zu kaufen als (Taschen-)Buch ist gut; das Tutorial ist ohnehin so umfangreich, dass ein kompletter Ausdruck & Bindung dem Buchpreis nahe kommt (aber dafür nicht ein so schönes Design hat!).
Heute abend in der Sendung „Zur Sache Baden-Württemberg“ von 20.15h bis 21h kommt u.a. ein satirischer Wochenrückblick, in dem meinereiner auftritt und vor der Kamera ein paar Aktienkursmelodien kritzelt. Und das Stück und so kommt da dann. Watch!
Obwohl die Hansel von Amazon immer noch meinen, das Buch sei nicht verfügbar, hat jetzt offiziell die Ankündigung meines Buches „Loadbang – Programming Electronic Music in Pure Data“ begonnen. Das Buch ist ausgeliefert (auch an Amazon), kann aber auf jeden Fall hier bestellt werden:
Pd was initiated by American software engineer Miller Puckette, who previous co-developed the well known and similarly structured software Max/Msp. Pd is not commercial software; i.e., it was not developed by a corporation and is not for sale. Instead, it is “open source”: its source code is not the (patented) property of a corporation, but is rather freely available to all. One drawback to this is that a detailed operating manual for users who lack programming experience has not existed until now. In contrast to a corporation— which has a monetary interest in ensuring that first-time users can easily operate new software—the open source movement lacks such a driving force to make itself accessible. This book is an attempt to fill that gap.
This tutorial is designed for self-study, principally for composers. It begins with explanations of basic programming and acoustic principles then gradually builds up to the most advanced electronic music processing techniques. Nun ist das Buch, das ich die letzten zwei Jahre dank des Graduiertenstipendiums der Musikhochschule Freiburg geschrieben habe fertig und in print verfügbar. Kaufen! (Wer z.B. wissen will, wie man 70.200 Samples in 33 Sekunden unterbringt und andere Halblegalitäten…)
