For Gaudeamus Niederlande & Musica Strasbourg festivals I contributed a conceptual work around performances of Louis Andriessen’s „De Staat“.
At the outer door, all audience people who have a ticket get a piece of barbed wire. Entrance to the concert hall is then, instead of the ticket, only allowed when showing the wire.
Barbed wire is used to refuse access. Here, you gain access with it.
It’s a cut barbed wire, no longer a fence. Take care, take it away.
