{"id":22689,"date":"2020-07-12T05:44:05","date_gmt":"2020-07-12T03:44:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kulturtechno.de\/?p=22689"},"modified":"2020-07-05T11:46:04","modified_gmt":"2020-07-05T09:46:04","slug":"the-covid-19-fugue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kulturtechno.de\/?p=22689","title":{"rendered":"The COVID-19 Fugue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nicholas Papadimitriou hat&#8217;s getan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Fugue on the Theme of COVID-19, also known as simply the &#8218;The COVID-19 Fugue&#8216;.<br \/>\nMy musical contribution to the worldwide pandemic of the Corona-virus might not bring humanity any closer to discovering the vaccine it is longing for, but, if you are a music enthusiast who is keen on the nerdy stuff, well, this is definitely something for you! <\/p>\n<p>A complex, 4-plus-voice fugue, based on the subject of &#8230;the virus itself!<br \/>\nWith some touches of artistic liberty, I interpreted &#8222;COVID-19&#8220; as an acronym for the musical terms &#8222;C\u00b0 V-I D 1-9&#8220; (as explained at the beginning of the video) which when combined, shape a rather spicy fugue subject.<\/p>\n<p>It was no surprise that the subject&#8217;s &#8218;unorthodox&#8216; nature made it quite challenging to integrate it in a tonal context;&#8230;a fact, however, that posed no obstacle to two-weeks worth of quarantine-induced free time, together with some Regerian\/Mendessohnian inspiration.<br \/>\nPutting all my music degrees in practice (and some amateur-ish editing skills in Adobe After Effects), I created a &#8218;viral&#8216; (pun intended, hopefully) fugue, which will take you on a journey across 7 tonalities, 12 subject entries and lots of juicy modulations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A_i8qdfW5u8\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZMCMHl-gKCw\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nicholas Papadimitriou hat&#8217;s getan.
