Using the concept of time scales, established by Curtis Roads, and considering referentiality as a very important musical factor, an analysis is made, in respect of different approaches in three pieces of experimental electronic music dealing with the use of short duration samples, in a context of musical collage practices. The pieces analised in the article are: Velocity, part of the larger work Plexure, by John Oswald, O Ch\u00e1, by M\u00e1rio Del Nunzio and Product Placements, by Johannes Kreidler.
